Public Safety

Helotes Police Department

Since its creation almost 40 years ago, the Helotes Police Department continues to protect and honorably serve Helotes residents, businesses, and visitors. The 23 sworn officers and two office employees that form the department take special pride in helping to make Helotes a safe place to live, work, and play.

Helotes Fire Department & Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Helotes Fire Department (HFD) provides fire protection, rescue services, and Emergency Medical Services to the City of Helotes. Many of the staff carry multiple certifications, such as Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Technician Rescue, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, and Fire Service Instructor.

The City of Helotes is a licensed EMS provider through the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS). Our ambulances are also licensed with the TDSHS as BLS (basic life support) with Mobile Intensive Care (MICU) capabilities.

Emergency Management

The Helotes Emergency Management Office (EMO) consists of a team that partners together to ensure the City is prepared for disaster situations. The Mayor has appointed the Fire Chief as Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) in partnership with the Helotes City Administrator. Together, this team works diligently to ensure the safety of our community. Similar to how citizens are asked to prepare before an emergency (such as registering for emergency notifications or preparing a disaster kit), the City has a detailed plan for managing emergencies.
